"In the garden below were lilac-trees purple with flowers, and their dizzily sweet fragrance drifted up to the window on the morning wind."
-Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery
Our lilacs have been around for decades. In a photo of our home in 1912, they are just beginning. I can't be certain if they are the same ones and have grown to be the trees they are over the last century, but it is comforting to think that they've provided joy for everyone who has ever lived here.
Lilacs are the most beloved of all springtime miracles for me. There is something about their heady scent, purple buds, and generous boughs that captivate my senses anew every year. To whoever planted the ones we enjoy now, thank you.
Witness the change from brown to green through our lens...

Isn't light amazing?
Thank you, God, for lilacs! You send me flowers every Spring. What a romantic sweetheart you are. All that to say, I noticed, and I love you back.
